August 28th  SCHWARTZENTRUBER: Martha - Of Nithview Community, New Hamburg, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Martha was born in Wilmot Township 91 years ago on March 11, 1931, a daughter of the late John Z & Annie (Steinman) Gingerich

Beloved wife and soulmate of the late Gerald Jacob Schwartzentruber who predeceased her January 17, 2019.  Loving mother of Mark & Joyce of New Dundee, Luke & Delores of Wellesley and Marylou & Dwayne Ruby of Tavistock.  Much loved by her grandchildren Evan, Kurtis, Jacob, Adam & Stephanie, Graham, Leah, Josalyn, Jordan & Jillian, Madalyn and by her great grandchildren Kylee, Nathan, Iris, Dawson, Eden and Adeline.  Martha is survived by sisters-in-law Ruby Gingerich and Dorothy Schwartzentruber, brother-in-law Laverne & Marjorie Schwartzentruber.
 
Predeceased by her brothers, sister and in-laws Orland & Agnes Gingerich, Marie & Omer Yantzi, Alvin Gingerich, Elmer & Margaret, Violet & Wilbert Faulhafer, Marie & Wallace Gingerich, Vera & Norman Helmuth, Hilda Mae & Walter Helmuth and Willard Schwatzentruber.

Martha loved nature. She was the family expert when it came to birds, weather folklore and gardening. Martha expressed her gifts of creativity through painting, decorating dollhouses, sewing, quilting, flower arranging and landscaping. She worked 22 years at Nithview Home as the Crafts Director. She valued the residents and enjoyed the challenge of giving them purposeful craft projects to accomplish.

Martha’s faith was inspiring. She daily prayed for each member of her family, church congregation and other needs that she became aware of. The love Martha and Gerald shared was beautiful. Martha was a steadfast and encouraging partner in Gerald’s pastoral roles. He wrote in his memoirs that he was ‘grateful for her love and dedication as they ministered together for many years.’

Friends and relatives are invited to the Wilmot Mennonite Church 2995 Bleams Rd., New Hamburg for memorial visitation on Wednesday from 4-7pm.  The Memorial Service will be conducted at Steinman Mennonite Church 1316 Synder’s Rd., W., Baden on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 2:00pm.  Pastor Susan Allison-Jones officiating.  Family interment has taken place in Wilmot Mennonite Church Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Hidden Acres Camp or to the M.C.C. (cheques accepted).
